WATERTOWN (AP) -- State police say troopers found more than 233 pounds of cocaine with a street value of $4.5 million in the sleeper cab of a tractor-trailer during a commercial vehicle inspection in northern New York.

The Canadian trucker, 48-year-old Alain Thuot of Quebec, was taken into custody after the vehicle stop around noon on Tuesday on Route 11 in Jefferson County. He was turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Syracuse for future arraignment in federal court.

Police did not know whether he has a lawyer.
