Police: Meridian Mom arrested while driving and drinking going to pick up child

OSWEGO COUNTY -- A Cayuga County mother is arrested after police say was driving and drinking a beer while going to pick up her young child.

Police arrested 43-year-old Rachel Schroeder of Meridian at a traffic stop on Bunkerhill Road on the town of Oswego. Police say, at the time, she was en route to pick up her 3-year-old child and was drinking a beer. She was charged with driving while ability impaired, consumption of a alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle as well as other charges.

Police say she was taken off the road before she was able to get her child. She is due to appear in the town of Oswego Court on October 17th.
