This giant pumpkin brought its LaFayette grower $5,000
A LaFayette pumpking grower is $5,000 richer this Sunday, after winning the World Pumpkin Weigh-off.
Gary Adams took his 1,613.5 pound specimen to the World Pumpkin Weigh-off, held Saturday in Clarence, near Buffalo. He won easily, and his pumpkin, which had to be moved with a hoist, was 600 pounds heavier than last year's contest winner.
But, he's still shy of the world record--a hefty 1,810.5 pounds, crowned in Minnesota last year.
