VERONA, ONEIDA COUNTY -- State police are investigating a fatal car-pedestrian accident in Verona.

State police say Jonathan Dahlgren, 26, of North Syracuse was fatally struck by a car as he crossed State Route 365 in Verona Wednesday night.

State police say in a press release that, a 2002 Honda "was travelling southwest on Route 365 in the passing lane of the four lane divided highway approaching the intersection of Patrick Road and struck Jonathan A. Dahlgren.”

Dahlgren was struck near the centerline of the southbound lanes while crossing the highway wearing dark clothing.

Police say that Dahlgren was pronounced deceased at the scene by Oneida County Coroner Robert Gulla and was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica for autopsy.

There is no indication of alcohol or speed being a factor in this collision on the part of the driver, authorities say. The investigation is continuing.
