SCRIBA (AP) -- Authorities say a 46-year-old man has died after being injured in an accident at a central New York aluminum plant.

The Oswego County Sheriff's Office tells Post-Standard of Syracuse that Edward Carvey of Hannibal was operating machinery at Novelis Inc.'s aluminum rolling plant in Scriba Tuesday night when he was injured by the equipment.

The newspaper says Thursday that Carvey was taken to Oswego Hospital, and then to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment.

Authorities say he died Wednesday afternoon.

Federal workplace safety officials are investigating the accident.
