Syracuse is looking for a new tree for the holidays

SYRACUSE -- The City of Syracuse is on the hunt for a tree to stand in Clinton Square for the upcoming holiday season.

The tree will be the centerpiece of the Bank of America tree lighting ceremony scheduled for Friday, November 25th. The tree must be 55-60 feet tall. The city says Norway Spruce trees are good candidates.

In order for the city to take a tree it must meet certain criteria. The tree must be open grown and located away from power lines as well as near a main access road.

If you own a tree that meets all of these requirements and you would like to donate it, please contact Arborist Steve Harris at the City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs at 473-4330.

Additional details about the tree lighting ceremony will be released in the coming weeks.
