ONONDAGA COUNTY -- Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile virus were identified in a sample taken from a trap in Cicero.
According to Onondaga County Health Commissioner, Dr. Cynthia B. Morrow, EEE and West Nile were found in a sample taken on September 27 from the Route 298 trap and the Island Road trap.
Dr. Morrow also announced that West Nile was found in the Route 298 mosquito trap on September 15.
Dr. Morrow said in a press release Friday that, “until Onondaga County has a hard frost throughout the area, it is important for the public to continue to take measures to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and to also keep yards free from standing water."
