SYRACUSE -- A Subway customer was hit in the face with a metal pipe during a robbery in Syracuse.

According to police, it happened around 8:30 pm Sunday at the Subway on James Street in the Eastwood neighborhood.

Police say the suspect entered the store and smashed a camera in the dining room, then came up to the counter and hit a 41-year-old male customer in the face with a metal pipe. The injuries are not life threatening, according to police.

The suspect stole cash from the register before taking off in a black Ford Ranger pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse police at 442-5222.
