SYRAUCSE -- Today is Columbus Day, which means some businesses will be closed.

Carousel Center and Shoppingtown Mall are both open and parking meters in the city of Syracuse are free today.

Trash pick-up is running a normal schedule in Syracuse, but if you have a private hauler, you should call to check if trash pick-up is still scheduled.

Banks across central New York are closed today along with city, state, and federal offices. County offices remain open today.

Post Offices are closed today.

A number of celebrations are scheduled for across the country today. In downtown Syracuse, a wreath will be laid at the Columbus Circle fountain at 11:30a.m. to celebrate Italian-American contributions to the community.

What are you doing to celebrate the holiday?
