MEXICO, OSWEGO CO. -- Oswego County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a methamphetamine lab in the Town of Mexico.

They were called to a home at 459 County Route 41 on Tuesday on a report of suspicious items in the home. When they got there, investigators say they found a meth lab production operation.

Authorities say the items found in the home are commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Members of the State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team were called to the scene this morning to assist in dismantling the lab.

26-year-old Melanie Halsey was arrested on unrelated charges. Halsey is charged with criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument. She was arraigned in the Village of Central Square Court and sent to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $1,500 bond.

The investigation continues and more charges are expected to be filed.
