FORT DRUM -- A 10th Mountain Division Soldier died from injuries in Afghanistan Monday.
According to Fort Drum Public Affairs, Sergeant Nathan L. Wyrick, 34, of Enumclaw, Washington, died from combat related injuries in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. He deployed with his unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2011.
Wyrick is survived by his wife and four children.
Fort Drum Public Affairs told CNY Central that Wyrick joined the Army in March 2006 and trained at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Wyrick came to Fort Drum after being stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington for nearly four years.
Fort Drum Public Affairs says Wyrick was a supply specialist with the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team and had previously deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2008 to August 2009.
According to Fort Drum Public Affairs, Wyricks's decorations and awards include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, five Certificates of Achievement and the Army Achievement Medal, among others.
The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
