Just when you thought the Carrier Dome couldn't get any louder during Midnight Madness Friday night, Carmelo Anthony made an appearance.
For Orange fans, it was a big surprise on a night they've been waiting months for. The 2011-2012 basketball season is finally here.
"We're big fans, and we just hope SU has a good season," said fan Matt Colabufo.
"This is for my first midnight madness, I heard a lot of people are going to be here. There is a legends game so I wanted to come by and see it," said fan Max Collins. "They always put on exciting games, every game is intense. Every game is a good one."
The legends game was filled with dunks and 3-point shots as the SU alumni tested their skills against the college kids. "It's nice to see a lot of the old guys come back and have an old timers game if you can call it that," said Nikos Collins. "As well as seeing some of the new players, see what they're going to do this year, see if we can come off another 20 win season."
Experts say this team is deep and diverse. A writer on cbssports.com says the new team has all the pieces for a national title run, something fans are hoping for.
The first pre-season game for the men is November 1st against Cal State.
