The first-ever marathon for Syracuse drew a big field, and comments we're seeing indicate they like what they saw.

The Empire State Marathon went off at 7:30am from Alliance Bank Stadium, with the half-marathon starting at 8am---2,000 entrants did the course up the Onondaga Lake Parkway, through Liverpool to Baldwinsville and back along 370 to the Parkway and the Stadium.  Onondaga Lake Parkway was closed until 3:30pm, Othere roads had restrictions on motor vehicle traffic.

It was windy at first, but runners got to see leaves turning their fall colors--and the breezes were a tail-wind help for the finish.
Our meteorologist Mike Brookins was among the competitors, and finished a VERY respectable 227th.
