WATERVILLE, ONEIDA COUNTY -- A BOCES student was arrested for allegedly knocking a teacher unconscious.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, Evan Z. Ferriter, 17, of Waterville, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a BOCES teacher Monday.
Investigators say there was a fight between Ferriter and another youth in the hallway and as Ferriter walking away, the other youth said something that caused Ferriter to run down the hallway.
Deputies say a teacher attempted to intervene and stop Ferriter from catching the other youth, when Ferriter shoved the teacher out of the way as he charged down the hallway. Ferriter’s shove caused the teacher to hit his head and was knocked unconscious.
Deputies say they took Ferriter into custody and charged him with second degree assault.
Ferriter was arraigned in the Village of New York Mills and committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.
