UTICA -- According to the Utica Fire Department, they responded to two separate fires on the Jewett Place within 16 hours.
Chief Fire Marshal Raymond Beck said the first fire was reported at 9:33 am Wednesday at 11 Jewett Place and the second was reported at 1:59 am Thursday at 24 Jewett Place.
Firefighters at the 11 Jewett Place fire found located a fire in the first floor living room of the 3-unit building.
At the 24 Jewett Place, firefighters found the structure heavily involved in fire. Firefighters were still on scene early Friday morning extinguishing hot spots. The Utica Fire Department reports that the fire was considered under control at 4:34 am Friday.
The causes of the fires are still under investigation.
