The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is alerting motorists of road work and special events scheduled for next week that may impact travel on various roadways in Central New York:

SHORT TERM PROJECTS IN ONONDAGA COUNTY

Bridge Deck Repair

Monday, October 24, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-481 Southbound: Left lane closed on bridge over the CSX rail yard.

Bridge Deck Repair

Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

I-690 Eastbound: Alternating lane closures on the ramp to NY 695 South.

Bridge Deck Repair

Wednesday, October 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-690 Westbound: Right lane closed on bridge over Peat Street.

Guide Rail Repair

Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-690 Westbound: Left lane closed between Geddes Street and Hiawatha Blvd.

Bridge Deck Repair

Thursday, October 27, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

I-690 Eastbound: On-ramp from State Fair Blvd. closed; continue along eastbound State Fair Blvd. to access I-690.

Bridge Deck Repair

Thursday, October 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

I-481 Southbound, south of Syracuse: On-ramp to I-81 southbound closed.

Detour: Merge onto to I-81 northbound; exit at East Calthrop Avenue (Exit 17); left turn at end of ramp; left turn just past overpass onto I-81 southbound ramp.

I-81 Southbound: Right lane closed from I-481 to NY 173.

Friday, October 28, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

I-690 Westbound: Left two lanes closed over Leavenworth Avenue.

Friday, October 28, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

West Street Northbound: Left lane closed on ramp to I-690 Westbound.

LONG TERM PROJECTS IN ONONDAGA COUNTY

Paving

Now through October 31, 2011, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

NY Route 80: Alternating one-way traffic directed by flaggers between Route 20 and the Syracuse South city line.

Intersection Reconstruction

Now through December 2, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

NY Route 930P (Bridge Street): Various single lane closures as needed between Enterprise Boulevard and Route 290, East Syracuse.

LONG TERM CONTINUOUS PROJECTS IN OSWEGO COUNTY

Bridge Repair

Continuous (24 hours a day/7 days a week) now through approximately November 3, 2011.

I-81 Northbound Mainline: Right lane closed full time, center lane closed Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. approaching and crossing under the Bartell Road Bridge at Exit 31 (Brewerton) and over the Barge Canal/Oneida Lake Outlet Bridge in Brewerton. Access to and from Exit 31 (Bartell Road-Brewerton) will be maintained.

LONG TERM CONTINUOUS PROJECTS IN TOMPKINS COUNTY

Culvert Replacement

Continuous  (24 hours a day/7 days a week)  Now through approximately Monday, November 7.

NY Route 34  Northbound and Southbound: Closed to all traffic at the tributary of Salmon Creek which is one tenth of a mile south of Bower Road in the Town of Lansing.

Detour Information:  All traffic will be detoured during construction on one of two routes: Route 34B to 90 to 34 for regular traffic, and Route 13 to 281 to Interstate 81 to 20 to 34 for over-width, over- height and “R” permitted vehicles.

The scheduled road, ramp and lane closures listed above are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen logistical complications. Other lane, ramp or road closures not yet scheduled may occur that do not appear on this report. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
