Name of Fort Drum soldier killed in rollover released

FORT DRUM -- The name of the Fort Drum soldier who was killed in a training accident Sunday has been released.

According to a spokesperson, 25-year-old Private Michael S. Koepfle of San Bernardino, California, was killed when a Humvee rolled over during a training exercise on the base.

Before he joined the Army in October 2010, Private Koepfle was a supply clerk. After training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Lee, Virginia he came to Fort Drum in October 2011.

Koepfle's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

Two other soldiers were injured in the training accident.

The soldiers were training as members of the 543rd Quartermaster Company, 548th Combat Service Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.
