WATERVILLE, ONEIDA CO. -- An Oneida County Sheriff's deputy was poked by a hypodermic needle during a drug arrest.
Deputy John Ford pulled over a car in the Village of Waterville after several reports of an impaired driver on Route 12 in the Town of Paris.
Deputies say 34-year-old Tracy Manion, of Mason Road, was driving in an intoxicated condition and had heroin in the car. During the investigation, Deputy Ford was inadvertently exposed to a hypodermic needle, which was not visible and was protruding slightly from Manion's purse. Deputy Ford was treated and released from St. Luke's Hospital.
Manion is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of hypodermic needles. She's also facing several traffic violations.
Manion was arraigned in Waterville Village court and sent to the the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.
