WINDSOR, BROOME CO. (AP) -- Police say a driver who stopped on an icy upstate New York highway to help at the scene of an accident was struck and killed by another vehicle.

Binghamton media outlets report that the Friday morning crash happened on Route 17, the Southern Tier Expressway, in Windsor, just east of Binghamton.

The identity of that victim hasn't been released.
