CLAYVILLE, ONEIDA CO. -- A Westmoreland man was charged with a DWI after crashing into two utility poles and flipping his car over.

According to police, Daniel P. DeCarlo, 19, was driving northbound on Main Street around 2:17 Saturday morning when he drove off the road and hit two utility poles.

Police say the 2000 GMC Sierra pickup exited the east side of the roadway and struck and severed two utility poles then continued on and flipped over in a drainage culvert.

Police say the vehicle was moving at an unsafe speed.

DeCarlo was treated at the scene by Clayville Fire Dept Rescue Squad for minor facial injuries and he declined/refused any medical attention.

DeCarlo was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and had a blood alcohol content of .21% - more than twice the legal limit.

DeCarlo was arraigned in the Town of Paris Court and was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash or $5000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Paris Court at a later date.
