CARTHAGE, JEFFERSON CO. -- A Carthage man was arrested for allegedly obtaining drugs illegally from patients while practicing as a registered nurse.

According to police, 30-year-old Joseph Margrey Jr. was arrested on October 30 for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and deceit.

Police say the arrest stems from an investigation regarding a complaint from Carthage Area Hospital. It is alleged that between June and September, Margrey intentionally falsified the automated dispensing records and medical administration records at the hospital while practicing as a licensed nurse.

Police say Margrey allegedly illegally obtained controlled substances from patients at the hospital.

Margrey was issued an appearance ticket to appear before Village of Carthage Court on November 7.
