SCRIBA, OSWEGO CO. -- An Oswego man is accused of welfare fraud for allegedly getting food stamps illegally.

43-year-old Michael Thorpe, of 88 Maiden Lane Road, Lot 15, is charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false written statement, all felonies.

Oswego County Sheriff's deputies say he illegally got more than $3,000 in food stamps from the Oswego County Department of Social Services.

He was arraigned in Scriba Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He's scheduled to appear in the Town of Mexico Court on November 15.
