POMPEY -- State Police are investigating a serious crash in Pompey.
State Police tell CNY Central a total of seven people were hurt when three vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon. It happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Sweet Road, near the intersection of Pratts Falls Road.
James Cecile, 34, of Twin Hills Drive in Syracuse, was driving a 2001 Dodge Suburban eastbound on Pratts Falls Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Sweet Road, according to state police. He then side swiped a 2002 Subaru Legacy driven by Sara Maxwell, 46, of Winterton Drive in Fayetteville.
Police say Cecile's vehicle continued thru the intersection and rolled over into a ditch. The vehicle then burst into flames, but all six inside was able to get out, according to police.
All were transported to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The back seat passengers were transported by Air 1 with head injuries.
Maxwell's vehicle continued thru the intersection onto Pratts Falls Road and hit a third vehicle driven by Ruth Hotaling, 67, of Gates Road in Jamesville.
Hotaling was not hurt, according to police.
Those in the Maxwell vehicle were transported by a state police helicopter to Upstate University Hospital with minor injuries.
Cecile was given a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
