Three cases of welfare fraud in Oswego County

OSWEGO CO. -- Oswego County Sheriff's deputies are investigating three separate cases of welfare fraud.

41-year-old Janelle Thorpe, of 330 State Route 104 in Oswego, is charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. She's accused of illegally getting food stamps valued at more than $3,000. Thorpe was arraigned in Oswego City Court and is scheduled to appear in Mexico Town Court on November 29.

62-year-old Marie Sutherland, of East 3rd St. Bldg. 140 in Oswego, is also charged with welfare fraud and grand larceny. Deputies say she fraudulently received more than $8,000 in food stamps from the Oswego County Department of Social Services. She was arraigned in Mexico Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She's due back in court at a later date.

54-year-old Susanna Brown, of 26 Pine Drive in Pennellville, is accused of illegally getting Medicaid benefits valued at more than $4,000. She's charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud. Brown was arraigned in Mexico Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She's due back in court on November 29.
