DANNEMORA, NY (AP) -- Ralph "Bucky" Phillips will spend more time in a special housing unit and lose his phone privileges for a year after being caught with "escape paraphernalia" in his cell at the northern New York prison where he's serving a life sentence for killing a state trooper.

The Department of Corrections says Tuesday that the disciplinary action against Phillips includes a year in the special housing unit at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, where he's already confined for 30 previous violations of prison rules.

Agency officials say Phillips also will lose his package and commissary privileges for a year.

Prison officials haven't released information on the prohibited items found in his cell, although a published report said it was a dummy made out of clothing stuffed into a sweatshirt.

Phillips killed one trooper and wounded two others in 2006.
