UTICA -- A 17-year-old male was arrested after crashing a car into a light pole in the parking lot of BJ’s Wholesale in Utica.

Police say that according to statements from those involved, the suspect and other friends were taking turns weaving the car around light poles in the parking lot to get a “rush.”

The suspect, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer, lost control of the vehicle and hit the base of a light pole.

A 17-year-old female passenger sustained a head injury during the crash and was later transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Police charged the suspect with reckless endangerment, obstructing governmental administration, endangering the welfare of a child, and speeding.
