CICERO -- We could get a better idea today if taxes will go up in the Town of Cicero.

Today is the deadline for the town board to finalize its budget.

On Thursday, a number of upset people in cicero met with the town board. They say the board is dragging its feet through the 20-12 budget process.

Right now, the preliminary budget raises property taxes by 14%, even though a state law caps the limit at 2%

The Cicero Town Supervisor also had to defend several cuts, including stripping the police department of a half million dollars.

The board is expected to meet at 6 p.m. to vote on the proposal.
