UTICA -- A Utica woman is in jail, accused of planning the murder of her parents in order to steal their money.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Kristen Klaput of Kennedy Plaza Apartments faces a charge of felony second degree solicitation. She is accused of planning to take her parents, who live out of state, hostage and kill them. She was then allegedly going to steal their money and sell their valuables and cars.

Klaput is also said to have tried to arrange for more than one inmate at the Oneida County Correctional Facility to help her.

Klaput was arraigned in the Town of Whitestown Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

Deputies say the intended victims have been notified.
