Winter driving is right around the corner and there are five things drivers should check to keep safe.

First check the battery. Extreme weather, hot or cold, takes away your battery life. Check the date on your battery first, it's right on the top and then do the math.

Next, check your wipers.  Make sure they're in one piece and keep them that way with a de-icer.

Obviously your tire treads matter to keep you safe on slippery roads, but the correct pressure matters too.

It is also critical to have your antifreeze checked.

Do not forget to replace headlight lamps if they start to dim, and always replace them in pairs.
