OSWEGO -- Rescue crews are entering their third day of searching for a man who reportedly jumped into the Oswego River and was swept away.

Witnesses say just after 3:00 Monday afternoon an unidentified man climbed onto the Utica Street bridge and plunged into the river below. Oswego police and fire personnel attempted to save him by throwing floatation devices, but were unsuccessful. Divers and rescue boats were in the water for much of the day Tuesday, but still have not located the man.

Oswego Police say they are continuing their search, with help from the Oswego Fire Department, New York State Police Dive Team, and United States Coast Guard. Police say they have brought in special equipment, including a mobile command trailer, to conduct a search of the area.

Police say they will release more information as it becomes available.
