SYRACUSE -- Officials from CenterState CEO have just made their pitch to the state for $40 million.
Ten regions across the state have developed plans to spur growth and innovation. Four regions will each receive $40 million to make that happen.
CenterState CEO President Rob Simpson says he thinks Tuesday's pitch went well. He says the committee asked good questions and had clearly read the plan submitted by the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council. He was told he'll find out next week if Central New York was chosen to receive the money.
Simpson says the plan would take the $40 million dollars and amplify it to $1.1 billion in projects and spending. He estimates 2,000 jobs will be created and 30 projects would be supported.
Some of the projects in Onondaga County on the list include the CNY Biotechnology Research Center, Kennedy Square Bioscience Park, St. Joseph's Hospital, and Syracuse Inner Harbor.
The plan also supports projects in other nearby counties, including Cayuga Ingredients Milk Processing Plant in Cayuga County, Cortland Business Innovation Center in Cortland County, Owera Vineyards in Madison County, and the Huhtamaki Plant in Oswego County.
