CALCIUM -- Police in the North Country have arrested a couple for what they call "excessive corporal punishment."
Fort Drum soldier Bob Chatmon and his wife Sireka are charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say they disciplined their 14-year-old and 12-year-old children with excessive corporal punishment. The separate incidents happened over the past two months at their home in Calcium, just outside Fort Drum.
Officers would not elaborate on what the punishment was, only saying it was excessive enough for an assault charge.
The couple will be back in court December 12th.
