CAMILLUS -- A Camillus man is under arrest after police say he raped a woman while she slept.
According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday deputies charged 45-year-old Joseph Canfield of Jarrett Drive in Camillus with felony first degree rape and felony first degree sexual abuse. Detectives allege that Canfield was at a friend’s home in the Town of Camillus on November 12 when he “engaged in sexual contact with an adult female who had fallen asleep”.
Canfield was arraigned in Camillus Town Court on $50,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond and taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Camillus Court on December 2.
