ANN ARBOR, MI (AP) -- Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor is among those expected to get an honorary degree at the University of Michigan's winter commencement ceremonies this month.

The Ann Arbor school's Board of Regents approved the honor for Cantor and three others in October.

Cantor gave Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim a vote of confidence Tuesday amid an investigation of child molestation allegations against Bernie Fine, his former longtime assistant coach. Fine, who has denied the allegations, was fired Sunday.

University of Michigan spokesman Rick Fitzgerald told The Michigan Daily student newspaper in an email that the school isn't reconsidering the decision to honor Cantor despite the recent developments at Syracuse.

The ceremony at the University of Michigan is Dec. 18. Cantor formerly served as University of Michigan's provost.
