LIVERPOOL -- Thad Fink was watching TV with his family Saturday night -- when something came crashing through the living room window.
“Boom -- there was this huge explosion, it sounded like a gunshot,” Fink said.
On the other side of his Liverpool home, a pumpkin rested in shards of broken glass.
“We thought somebody had shot through here, so when I saw the pumpkin I was relieved because I knew it was a bad prank,” he said.
The pumpkin in question was about the size of a softball, and weighs no more than a pound. But this small pumpkin packed a big punch.
The hole in this window, which has been covered with duct tape for the time being, will cost a few hundred dollars to fix.
Fink, who lives with his wife and four children on Daniel Drive, said it could have been worse.
“When the pumpkin came through the window it came within three or four feet of the four people in the living room. We were just fortunate it didn't hit anybody.”
There's no official explanation on how this pumpkin came crashing through the double-paned window, but it likely would have taken some sort of a slingshot.
Fink said he's been in touch with the sheriff's department, which received a similar, seperate complaint that same night.
He said this needs to stop.
“This isn't a silly prank, this is something that could really hurt somebody; it came within three or four feet from hitting somebody in the head. And then the guys, if somebody does get hurt, are going to get caught and be in big trouble.”
As the investigation continues, anyone with information should call the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department.
