SALINA, ONONDAGA CO. -- A Salina man is charged with leaving the scene after allegedly hitting his girlfriend with a dump truck.
Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says Timothy Sauro, 45, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident in connection with a hit and run personal injury accident that was reported on December 3.
Sauro is accused of leaving the scene without reporting that he had struck his girlfriend Kimberlee Semle, 41, with a 2004 Chevrolet dump truck.
Detectives report that Sauro and Semle were arguing in their 510 Gordon Avenue apartment late on a Friday night when Sauro left the apartment. Sauro allegedly backed the dump truck out of the driveway and began to drive away.
As Sauro started driving off, Semle ran out of the apartment and ran into the roadway where she was struck to the ground by the passenger side of the vehicle.
Police say that Semle sustained serious injuries and was discovered by a neighbor who heard her yelling for help. Semle was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.
Sauro was arrigned in the Town of Salina Court Tuesday morning and released on his own recognizance. Sauro is scheduled to return to court on December 14, 2011.
