ALBANY (AP) -- Troopers say a hoax e-mail is going around that appears to be from New York State Police or the Los Angeles Department of Motor Vehicles.

The subject line of the e-mail may contain the title, "Uniform Traffic Ticket."

In one of the e-mails, it said the recipient was charged with speeding at 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 29, and instructed the person to click on a link to open a form to fill out and send to a court. The file is believed to contain a computer virus, and is being analyzed by the state police computer forensics lab.

Troopers advise that anyone receiving the e-mail delete it without clicking on the link. They also advise that if you did open the e-mail attachment, you should update and run antivirus software.
