CLAY -- Some underprivileged children are being able to enjoy the holiday season and meet members of the local law enforcement community.

On Saturday about 60 students from Syracuse and Onondaga County took part in the Shop With a Cop program. The target in clay hosted the event. The students were partnered up with members of the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department or Syracuse Police Department who volunteered their time to take the children on a shopping spree.

"This is just an opportunity for us to give back to the communities we live in," said Brian Crowley, president of the Onondaga County Sheriff's Police Association.

Area businesses sponsored the event so each child was given a gift card to be able to buy presents.

"The police, we're just a small part of this," said Jeffrey Piedmonte, president of the Syracuse Police Benevolent Association. " We're just hoping to help out the children for Christmas."
