Those loud, annoying commercials that air during your favorite TV show are about to become a lot more quieter.
Today the Federal Communication Commission plans to take action and limit the volume of TV commercials.
The FCC is expected to pass regulations requiring broadcasters and cable and satellite TV systems to keep similar volume levels, according to the USA Today.
The regulation means commercials must have the same average volume as the programs they accompany, according to the FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.
Last year, President Obama signed a law giving the FCC the power to address the problem. At that time, a Harris poll found 86% of television viewers reported commercials were much louder than the program they were watching.
While the FCC is taking action, the regulation isn't expected to go into effect for a full year.
