Be careful the next time your phone rings. Hospice of Central New York says it's received word from several people about a local phone scam.

Apparently, people are getting calls from folks claiming to be from Hospice of Central New York and asking for money to support Women with Cancer who need dressing supplies.

Hospice says this is a scam. It never solicits for money or raises any type of funds by telephone.

If you get this type of phone call, never offer any personal information. If the phone caller persists or if you have given out personal information, contact police.
