More than 100 vehicles make the cut
SYRACUSE -- If you or someone you know are in the market for a new car, there's a new list out today that ranks 2012 models based on their safety.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its list of "Top Safety Picks" on Thursday. These are the people who take perfectly good vehicles and crash them in the name of safety.
More than 100 vehicles made this year's list, with a number of models making the list for the very first time. Ten of the 18 new additions are Honda/Acura models.
Each vehicle is ranked by "class," or size category.
This year, every major automaker has at least one winner. Subaru is the only auto manufacturer to win an award for each model.
