PRATTSBURG, STEUBEN CO. (AP) -- Two members of a western New York family remain hospitalized after they were overcome by dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide caused by a clogged chimney.
State police tell WSYR-TV in Syracuse that a 10-year-old girl returned to her family's home in the rural Steuben County town of Prattsburg Sunday afternoon to find her mother, father and 12-year-old sister unconscious.
The girl went to her neighbor's house to call 911.
The TV station reports that the girl's father and sister are still in critical condition.
Fire officials say the carbon monoxide detector in the family's home was unplugged.
