WEST MONROE, OSWEGO CO. -- A West Monroe man was arrested after allegedly driving his vehicle towards people and landing in a ditch while under the influence of alcohol.

Thomas M. Groth, 36, was arrested following an investigation into allegations that he drove a vehicle towards multiple persons in a threatening manner.

Police say the action caused the victims to jump out of the way. The vehicle ended up in a ditch at the intersection of SR 49 and Kellar Rd.

According to police, while in the back of the patrol car, Groth reportedly kicked the rear window and frame repeatedly, breaking the glass and bending the frame.

Groth was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating an unregistered vehicle, criminal mischief, and two counts of menacing.

Groth was arraigned in the Town of Constantia Court by Hon. Judge Simpson and remanded to the Oswego County Jail, held without bail.  He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
