CLAY -- A Clay computer manufacturer plans to lay off 130 employees.

Revonate Manufacturing LLC, an affiliate of Seneca Data Distributors, Inc., began layoffs on December 6 and will continue to lay off workers through January 31 of next year.

The facility, located at 7645 Henry Clay Boulevard, refurbishes computers returned to retailers.

Plant officials cite a contract loss as the reason for the layoffs.

In a statement to CNYCentral, Revonate says "effective December 31st, 2011, the company will cease remanufacturing systems for the American operations of a major Taiwanese computer company. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the production lines dedicated to supporting the outsource agreement will be phased out."

The company says it will continue to provide reverse logistics and lifecycle services to its remaining customers.

The facilities in North Syracuse and Alpharetta, Georgia are not affected by the layoffs.
