CLAY -- A Clay man is accused of driving impaired by drugs and alcohol with his 5-year-old daughter in the car.
44-year-old David Mech, of 110 Baxton Street, is charged with aggravated criminal contempt, reckless endangerment, driving while ability impaired by prescription drugs and aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law.
Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say the trouble started just before 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mech's home. Deputies say he was violating an order of protection by arguing with his wife.
That's when, deputies say, Mech left the couple's home with their 5-year-old daughter and started backing their 2007 Ford Mustang out of the driveway when his wife opened the driver's side door. Deputies say he closed the door as the car rolled backward and his wife was knocked to the ground. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment.
Deputies say the couple's daughter was not secured in a child safety seat, but was not hurt.
