SYRACUSE --
Sheriff's Deputies have canceled the Gold Alert for a missing Baldwinsville man.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says 78-year-old William Hare, Jr. of 8261 Oswego Road was located Thursday morning around 8:15 a.m. by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Hare was at a convenience store in the Town of Phelps. A store clerk contacted authorities because Hare appeared to be disoriented. The clerk was unaware that Hare was reported missing.
Hare is doing just fine, no injuries were reported, and authorities have contacted his family.
Hare was reported missing at approximately 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. Hare was considered an endangered person due to a medical condition, and had last been seen at approximately 11:45 a.m. driving his car at the intersection of North State Street and James Street in the City of Syracuse.
Deputies say they had searched several locations and issued an alert with the New York State Missing Adult Alert system.
The newly-created 'Gold Alert' system for missing adults, similar to the Amber Alert system, was activated for this case.
