Worker hurt in 80-foot fall from Marcy cell tower

MARCY, ONEIDA CO. (AP) -- Authorities say a man working on a cell phone tower in central New York has suffered serious injuries after falling more than 80 feet.

Fire officials tell the Observer-Dispatch of Utica that the man fell was working on the tower in Marcy Thursday morning when he fell about 83 feet and landed on a platform that's about 15 feet off the ground. 

Officials tell the newspaper that he suffered multiple broken bones. He was taken to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica.

The man's name hasn't been released. Official say he wasn't from the Utica area.
