Man had to be tasered before arrest
It ended in a crash and DWI charges, and a man in jail--and there's more!
An erratic driving incident that ended in a crash and a confrontation in Oneida County was tracked on Friday night, by callers to 911.
The first calls came in about 6:15pm, of a car driving erratically on Route 69 in Rome. A few minutes later, the same car was reported skidding at the intersection of Route 69 and Lee Valley Road, and ending up on a home's lawn in the Town of Lee.
At 6:24pm another set of calls came in, reporting the car had gone off the Lee Valley Road at Kawanis Road in Lee. The car had crashed into a telephone junction box and ended up against nearby trees, but the driver was gone when Oneida County Deputies got there.
Several more calls to 911 reported a man staggering along the roadway nearby. Deputy Mark Chrysler found him on nearby Frenchtown Road, but the man was uncooperative and reportedly punched the deputy. He was tasered and taken into custody.
42 year old David Damuth, from Frenchtown Road in Lee, was taken to the Oneida County Jail, charged with DWI, leaving the scene, unreasonable speed, refusing to submit to a breath screening, harassment, resisting arrest and more. More charges may be pending.
