TOWN OF ONONDAGA -- A Rochester woman is facing multiple charges after she drove the wrong way on Interstate 81, according to State Police.
It happened Sunday morning around 5:30 in the Town of Onondaga, according to authorities.
The Onondaga County 911 Center received several calls of a gray Chevy Tahoe driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-81. 911 callers reported they had flashed their lights and honked their horns at the driver, but it didn't help.
Trooper Richard Ellis and Trooper Douglas Burdick from the State Police barracks in LaFayette quickly responded to the interstate, according to a press release from State Police.
The Troopers positioned themselves at a u-turn on I-81 and put on all lights and sirens attempting to get the drivers attention, but the vehicle failed to stop, according to investigators.
Trooper Ellis sped after the vehicle to pull the driver over, but the driver ignored his requests. Trooper Ellis then nudged the Tahoe into the media and the vehicle came to a stop.
No one was hurt.
Heather Fritzen, 25, is charged with DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree, Reckless Driving, Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way Street.
Fritzen was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Preble Court at a later date.
