MONTEZUMA -- Restrooms are back in service at the Port Byron Travel Plaza on the New York State Thruway, but most food service is still unavailable.

The plaza is in Montezuma, between Exit 41 (Waterloo) and Exit 40 (Weedsport).

A grease fire in the kitchen at the plaza caused heavy smoke damage to the building on Sunday. No one was hurt in the fire.

Limited food service is currently available while repairs are made. The Boston Pizza outlet is open for businees. Other food services remain closed temporarily.

Eastbound travelers can get full food service at the DeWitt travel Plaza between Exit 36 (Watertown, I-81) and Exit 35 (Syracuse). Food is also available at the Clifton Springs Travel Plaza between Exit 43 (Manchester, Palmyra) and Exit 42 (Geneva, Lyons).

Gas is still available at the Port Byron Travel Plaza.
